♦ WA Inline Player shines on the Pittsburgh Pond rink
Kellen Almady, a member of West A Inline's Elementary 2 Team and the Mt Lebanon Hockey Associate "Hornets" Ice Hockey program had a chance to play on the Pittsburgh Pond ice rink. The rink , located on the Pittsburgh's South Side is sponsored by the Penguins orgnization.
The Hornets team won a hard-fought 1-0 victory vs. the Southpointe Rink Rats with Kellen notching the game's only goal during a breakaway score.
Pittsburgh's biggest hockey celebrity and Penguins owner, Mario Lemieux was on hand to watch the game And took a few minutes following to offer words of encouragement to both teams, including an acknowledgement of Kellen and his game winning goal.
Kellen is picture in the back row, standing next to Mario. Also pictured, standing in the back row, is former Penguin Bob Errey, who won the Stanley Cup with the Pens and is a current member of their TV broadcast team.
Other members of West A's Inline program have also had the chance to play or will be playing at the Pond, through games played as part of West A's Ice Hockey Freshman and JV Teams.
